Enterprise Architect

YOUR CHALLENGE AS A ENTERPRISE ARCHITECT:

We are looking for talented and experienced Enterprise Architects to join our team. As an Enterprise Architect at PENCIL42, you play a crucial role in shaping our clients’ IT landscape based on their processes and requirements. You do this with knowledge of modern technical evolutions and patterns. You have excellent abstraction skills to holistically map and improve both the business and application layers of an organisation. You are able to bring people together and demonstrate leadership and change management to get things done.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Enterprise Architect at Pencil42, your key responsibilities will include:

• Shaping an organisation’s enterprise architecture. You are responsible for mapping a holistic view of the organisation’s application landscape. You model just enough the as-is, pinpoint key pain points in it and make substantiated proposals for the to-be situation. You also have an eye for the business layer, such as typically the business processes, business capabilities and business information model at enterprise level. You also define the architecture principles and standards relevant to the organisation, necessary for the effective realisation of the enterprise architecture through projects.
• Strategic Advice: You act as an advisor to senior management and other stakeholders within the organisation. You advise on the to-be situation, technology strategies, and on issues such as opportunities for innovation, cost savings and competitive advantage.
• Stakeholder Management: You work closely with various stakeholders within the organisation, including IT teams, business units and external suppliers. You should be able to effectively communicate and negotiate with different stakeholders to reach consensus on architecture decisions.
• Technology Evaluation: You engage in evaluating new technologies and tools relevant to the organisation. You analyse the impact of these technologies on the existing architecture and advise on possible adoption strategies.
• Risk management: You identify potential risks and challenges within the organisation’s IT architecture and develop strategies to deal with them successfully. You are able to make trade-offs between the long and short term, between architectural thinking and value creation in organisations.
• Leadership and Coaching: You provide leadership to the architecture team and act as a mentor for junior architects. You also coach the solution architects who will effectively realise the enterprise architecture through projects. You share best practices, provide guidance, review where necessary and encourage the professional development of team members.

In short: you are a key member of the team and, by extension, of the entire organisation.
